With Shadows being the latest Assassin’s Creed title on the market, you would be forgiven for thinking Ubisoft would leave 2024’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage in the past. However, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to get a free story DLC and other gameplay improvements.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes players to Baghdad as a narrative-driven action-adventure experience that follows the evolution of Basim, who goes from a young street thief to a refined Master Assassin with a conflicted destiny. Basim’s life is thrown into chaos when he breaks into the Winter Palace of Anbar and finds a mysterious device guarded by a secret society known as The Order.
The story continues in Assassin’s Creed Mirage
The official Assassin’s Creed X account on August 23, 2025 posted, “Assassin’s Creed Mirage players, we have a surprise coming your way later this year!” The surprise is a new story chapter and missions set in 9th century AlUla. Gameplay improvements for the base game are on the way, and they’ll apply to the new location. The best part is that the new content will roll out as part of a free update on all platforms.
This is certainly unexpected for Assassin’s Creed fans, as Ubisoft previously said it had no post-launch content planned for Mirage. Initially, it was designed as a standalone experience, but it appears that the story of Basim lives on.
Although a specific release window hasn’t been announced, the Assassin’s Creed Mirage free DLC will be playable “later this year.” More details on what’s to come will be announced in the near future.
