The World Series of Warzone (WSOW) is the biggest Warzone event of the year, backed by Activision with a huge million dollar prize pool on the line. To qualify, players have to make it through an online segment, but that means, cheaters. Team Ricochet has provided an update on the steps they’ve taken to combat cheaters in the WSOW.
Cheaters have been spoiling the fun in Warzone ever since the battle royale launched back in 2020. With the situation making very little progress in right direction, hackers managed to infiltrate the WSOW qualifier.
The Call of Duty Updates X account informed fans and competitors about a review of accounts that have been participating in the WSOW in-game open.
Team Ricochet has conducted a manual review of the accounts and historical replays of accounts within the Top 100 of each region’s WSOW leaderboard. Accounts found to be using cheats or boosting during or prior to WSOW have been permanently banned from Call of Duty and removed from the leaderboard.
Those caught teaming during or prior to WSOW have been disqualified from WSOW and barred from accessing Ranked Play modes for the remainder of Black Ops 6. Entire teams with a player account actioned against anything detailed here will be disqualified from the competition.
As squads were removed from the WSOW leaderboard, the team conducted account reviews on those that climb into the Top 100. Additional account reviews of participants beyond the qualifying stages of the WSOW will continue to take place.
It’s a promising sign to see Team Ricochet take action, but there’s a long way to go before hackers are removed from Warzone as a whole.
