DayZ originally made its Early Access debut in 2013 as a suspenseful open-world survival horror MMO, where players must survive a brutal post-apocalyptic landscape. Games belonging to this genre are something the Nintendo Switch family of systems has been lacking, but that’s about to change with DayZ releasing on Nintendo Switch 2.
DayZ will support the features that are unique to the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. This includes support for gyro aiming, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Pro Controller compatibility, touchscreen support for inventory management, as well as DLSS and VRR.
New players join the wastelands
Bohemia Interactive has revealed that DayZ will get a port on Nintendo Switch 2 as the DayZ Cool Edition on an unspecified date later this year. This version of the game will include DayZ Frostline, granting access to all three terrains and the expansion. It’s expected that DayZ Badlands will come to the Switch 2 as an expansion at a later date.
According to a DayZ FAQ, the price for the Nintendo Switch 2 version will come in at approximately €70. It will be digitally available via the Nintendo eShop, with no plans to release a physical edition.
The move has been labelled by Bohemian Interactive as “part of our current long-term goal to have DayZ on all relevant platforms. Porting DayZ to the Nintendo Switch 2 is yet another major milestone for us in 2026.” However, PS5 players must continue waiting for a native port, which won’t arrive this year.
Since a launch window remains unknown, we will update this article when the DayZ Nintendo Switch 2 release date has been unveiled.
