Splitgate 2 was recently relaunched as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, after the game was taken back into beta following a bad reception over the summer. Hefty microtransactions were frowned upon, the battle royale reveal at Summer Game Fest 2025 drew criticism, and now, this second chance for the game has failed to grow traction. Splitgate developers have now hit back at the community, who are using the player count on Steam Charts to measure the success of Splitgate: Arena Reloaded.
Steam Charts show how many players are active on a particular game on Steam in terms of a 24-hour peak, an all-time peak, and average players per month. At the time of writing, Splitgate: Arena Reloaded sits at a 24-hour peak of 1,070 active players and an all-time peak of 25,674 players.
Splitgate vs Steam Charts
In a statement posted on the official Splitgate X account, 1047 Games says:
“Steam Charts don’t measure fun. They show one number, on one platform, at one given moment. They don’t show the full picture or what it feels like to actually play, and they definitely don’t capture the community that’s actively helping shape what Arena Reloaded is becoming (including upcoming content like Arena Royale). “
They continue, “over the past six months, we rebuilt Splitgate from the ground up because we believe in the game, our team, and our community. The 1047 team remains committed to delivering the best version of Splitgate possible.”
Even though this statement comes merely months after Splitgate 2’s difficult launch, the developers have worked on player feedback and now insist that its relaunch delivers gameplay that’s “the best it’s ever been.”
Splitgate: Arena Reloaded is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
