Gearbox has confirmed it’s looking into how to add a field of view (FOV) slider to Borderlands 4 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles after complaints from players.
When Borderlands 4 launched on September 11, 2025, console users were surprised that an FOV slider wasn’t present in the settings menu. By modern standards, an FOV slider on console has become the norm, allowing players to customise how much of the game can be viewed on the screen at once.
It’s worth noting that an FOV slider is present in the PC version of Borderlands 4 in relation to in-person view and vehicle field of view.

In a post via the official Borderlands X account, it has been confirmed that the team has “heard your feedback on FOV (Field of View) sliders on console. The team is currently exploring how to bring these sliders to both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions. We will continue to read your feedback & prioritize game updates with your experience in mind.”
Although this announcement seems to indicate that the arrival of an FOV slider on the console versions of Borderlands 4 may be a while away, it does confirm that Gearbox are finding a way to implement it in the future.
Gearbox are continuing to act on player feedback across the board. On the other side of the aisle, PC players are experiencing serious optimisation issues, leading to the title receiving Mixed views on Steam. If key problems can be fixed and quality of life updates roll out quickly, there’s no doubt that Borderlands 4 will propel the series back to its former glory.
