In the lead up to the highly anticipated launch of Borderlands 4, the devs are giving away a free Hazard Pay Weapon skin.
Following suit of previous Borderlands entries, players will be able to customise weapons in Borderlands 4 with weapon skins. The chances are that the full game will contain a variety of skins to equip to your arsenal, but Gearbox are giving fans a head start.
How to get the Hazard Pay Weapon skin in Borderlands 4
Here is how you can kick off your Borderlands 4 journey in style:
- Subscribe to receive newsletters and digital marketing via email with a SHiFT account. You can create a free SHiFT account or log in to your existing one here.
- Log in on the SHiFT website, then link your preferred platform accounts under the Gaming Platforms tab.
- At the launch of Borderlands 4, log in with your SHiFT account in the game to receive the Hazard Pay Weapon skin.

The Hazard Pay Weapon skin isn’t all you can earn at the start of your Borderlands 4 journey. Whenever you receive a Borderlands email, Gearbox urges you to check for a SHiFT code and follow the instructions inside to redeem additional rewards for your SHiFT account. SHiFT codes are essentially codes that allow you to claim rewards that are useable in-game. In the past, these rewards have included cosmetics, loot, and Golden Keys.
Of course, to get access to the Hazard Pay Weapon skin, you’re going to need to own a copy of Borderlands 4. There’s the option to pre-order a copy of Borderlands 4, of which there are three available editions that offer more in-game cosmetics. However, a pre-order isn’t necessary as the Hazard Pay Weapon skin is still redeemable to those who pick up Borderlands 4 from its September 12 launch date and beyond.
