Support for Crash Team Rumble will stop in just a matter of days. The competitive 4v4 team-based experience will receive one final content update before it is shelved by Toys for Bob.
The servers will remain intact, while all battle pass content will be available to unlock for free, and microtransactions will be disabled.
One final Crash Team Rumble update for the road
When opening up Crash Team Rumble on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, a message appears on screen which states that “March 4, 2024 will be the final content update for Crash Team Rumble.”
Although developer support is ending, “the core game will still be live and players will have access to a free 500-tier battle pass that includes 104 new items.” If you missed out on any items, this huge battle pass will feature all of the content from Season 1 to Season 3, “plus all the available event rewards.”
At the same time, microtransactions will grind to a halt as “Crash Coin purchases will be turned off” and if you have any Crash Coins remaining on your account, their only use will be to “purchase tier skips for the battle pass.”
This announcement comes off the back of a recent revelation that Toys For Bob is becoming an independent studio. Previously, it had been part of the Activision family, after the publisher acquired Toys for Bob in 2005.
In recent times, Toys for Bob has been responsible for developing the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro series. They’ve even offered a helping hand in other Activision franchises such as Call of Duty: Warzone and Overwatch.
The latter isn’t going anywhere, but the future of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro is up in the air, especially with Crash Team Rumble receiving mixed reviews.
Crash Team Rumble released in June 2023 and it’s a shame that the latest entry in the beloved series never got to reach its full potential.
