Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom breaks a Guinness World Record

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom breaks Guinness World Record gliding in

We knew the numbers would be big, but who knew they’d be this big. It has been revealed that Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has broken a Guinness World Record and has sold faster than any other Nintendo game in history.

Its worth noting that Tears of the Kingdom is a Nintendo Switch exclusive. If it was released on other platforms, who knows how the figure would look.

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now a Guinness World Record holder

Guinness World Records has officially announced Tears of the Kingdom as the fastest-selling Nintendo game of all time, selling 10 million copies in its first 3 days. The game has stormed ahead of the previous world record holder, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which sold 12.08 million copies in 24 days.

This isn’t the first time The Legend of Zelda franchise has been awarded with a Guinness World Record. The most valuable Legend of Zelda game is the Zelda Test Cartridge NES, which was reported to be selling for around $2,000 (£1,569) in 2018. It was never released commercially as it was used by Nintendo Authorized Repair Centres to test Nintendo hardware.

Also, the record for most equippable weapons in a Legend of Zelda game belongs to The Breath of the Wild (2017) which features 153 different weapons.

Its hardly surprising that Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom managed to snatch the Guinness World Record for the fastest selling game in Nintendo history. Many players already have it as a contender for the 2023 Game of the Year award.
