At the June 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft and developer Turn 10 Studios finally provided a full release date and some new footage for the upcoming Forza Motorsport. Serving as the 8th-entry into the highly coveted racing sim series, the new Forza Motorsport is set to turn heads with stunning visuals, new in-depth driving mechanics and sim operations, along with a wealth of beautiful vehicles to choose from.
Considering this title was initially slated for release in early 2023, Forza fans were anxiously waiting to finally know when they’d be able to play. Now, the wait is only four more months.
Forza Motorsport will turn heads from launch
The new Forza Motorsport boasts an impressive list of new features, including “more than 800 performance upgrades” that are a part of the new single player campaign known as Builders Cup Career mode. Players will be able to build their car collection with over 500 licensed cars and race across 20 different “world-famous environments.” Tracks both new to the series and returning favourites are a part of the roster.
Turn 10 describes the track environment as “living,” with richer, more dynamic background detail including more objects, a stunning new lighting system, and advanced effects that will allow the visuals to shine in different weather conditions and times of day.
Of course, ray-tracing is a part of the package, and greatly advances the visual depth of effects such as shadows and reflections. Cars will bend, crunch, and scratch in more violent ways and realistically react to impacts in specific areas.
Multiplayer mode has been advanced, with different events to participate in, and more options for setting up preferred race conditions when hosting a match.
As Turn 10 puts it, the new Forza Motorsport is set to be supported for “years to come” with consistent refreshes of new content, including new cars, tracks, and “exciting new gameplay experiences.”
Like past releases, players will be able to jump into the new Forza Motorsport across multiple editions.
In addition to day one availability via Xbox Game Pass, there’s the Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Edition variants. Deluxe buyers will gain access to the Forza Motorsport Car Pass, which is a bundle containing all 30 planned special paid-DLC cars. As the cars are gradually released, you’ll be able to access them for no additional charge by having the Car Pass.
As for Premium Edition buyers, along with the Car Pass, there’s also VIP Membership, the Welcome Pack and the Race Day Car Pack. VIP Membership grants access to perks that include a 2x credits boost when finishing an event, five exclusive Forza Edition cars, VIP Driver Gear, the VIP Player Crown Flair, VIP Player Card, VIP-exclusive Rivals events, “and more”.
As for the Race Day Car Pack, this includes eight “new-to-Forza cars built exclusively for the racetrack”. Finally, the Welcome Pack will inject your garage with five vehicles from the start, along with a set of bonus credits to get you started with to buy another car.
Prepare your wallets, as the Standard edition goes for $69.99, Deluxe Edition $89.99, and the Premium Edition an eye-watering $99.99. Pro-tip, if you’re tight on cash, the Forza titles, like Microsoft’s other offerings, don’t take very long to go on sale. That said, keep in mind Game Pass players get access via their subscription.
Forza Motorsport will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam on October 10, 2023. Premium Deluxe buyers will gain access five days earlier on October 5, 2023. You can pre-order now via the Microsoft Store, or Steam.
