Dreams are an interesting concept to explore and a range of games have done just that to craft a variety of experiences. Dreampainters aims to take that to a new level, bringing out your artistic side as you add a splash of colour to each scene.
Inspired by titles such as Portal, Superliminal, and Viewfinder, Dreampainters is a first-person experience with plenty of puzzles and creative ways to progress. It’s in development over at Stability Games, with one of the studio members being the former game director of House Flipper 2, Jakub Bujas (Xibuk.)
The canvas of dreams
Dreampainters is a puzzle game that lets you dive into a painter’s dreams. Grab a brush and navigate the world through colour, as each colour allows you to interact with the environment in a unique way. The reveal trailer shows off some of these mechanics, with red allowing you to slide, and purple lighting up dark areas.
There will be some customisation to your adventure. It’s possible to select which of the artist’s memories influence each dream you’re exposed to through the night.

However, it isn’t a regular night of sleep in your own bed. You are involved in a study on human creativity run by Neurem Labs, who monitor your dreams. The reason why the organisation are interested in your dreams remains a mystery.
The world of Dreampainters can be played solo, or with a friend in two player co-op. It’s unknown when the game will launch, but it’s available to wishlist on Steam. It’s still early days, so expect more development updates that paint the picture with more details in the future.
