Sony has finally gotten around to adding some much-needed audio customisation settings to the PS5, including equalizer settings, a new Sidetone feature, in addition to other enhancements.
First-party PS5 peripherals like the Pulse Explore earbuds and the upcoming Pulse Elite headset will benefit directly from these features.

The new sound settings menu include an adjustable equalizer to allow users to fine-tune different frequencies to get the exact sound profile they’re looking for. There are also selectable pre-sets in this menu for quick changes and users are free to add their own.
Interestingly enough, these settings are actually saved to the PS5 Pulse Explore earbuds themselves, allowing you to use the same fine-tuned settings on other devices. Though, it seems they’re only configurable in this direct way via just the PS5. If you use a different equalizer on say your phone or PC, those settings won’t be applied to the earbuds when they’re connected to a PS5.
The other adjustable settings include elements such as sidetone volume, 3D audio, balancing and more.
As mentioned earlier, these new features directly benefit the PS5’s Pulse Explore earbuds and Pulse Elite headset. For whatever reason, it appears that these settings are inaccessible by other audio devices. Perhaps this could be due to the two Sony-made devices using the PlayStation Link functionality?
Regardless, hopefully changes are made in the near future to allow any audio device on PS5 to be properly customised.
The Pulse Explore earbuds are available now with an MSRP of $199.99. The Pulse Elite headset will release at a later date for $149.99.
