According to a new Call of Duty leak, content that was left out of Black Ops 6 will be pushed to post-launch updates for Black Ops 7. As a result, Black Ops 7 updates are expected to have more content than ever, which will continue to be delivered through seasons.
After player feedback, Activision decided to abandon carry forward in Black Ops 7, meaning Black Ops 6 operators will no longer transfer over to the next title. However, if the content leak rings true, there will still be shades of Black Ops 6 in Black Ops 7.
Could Black Ops 7 seasonal roadmaps outshine that of its predecessors?
Prominent Call of Duty leaker, TheGhostOfHope, posted on X:
“Sources have indicated to me that Black Ops 7 will have MORE content in its post launch seasons than what MWIII had.
The current plan according to sources is for Black Ops 7 to have A LOT of content in Seasons 1 through 4 and then taper off to give Activision time to push Modern Warfare 4 marketing very hard.
Treyarch earlier this year had pulled some of the planned BO6 post launch content and has pushed it to Black Ops 7 so they can repurpose/reskin.”
The reason for this move as stated by TheGhostOfHope, is that studios are “being told to leave nothing on the table for Black Ops 7 and Warzone.” It’s expected that Modern Warfare 4, rumoured to release in 2026, will feature a significant engine upgrade, meaning any remaining content and assets would have to be heavily reworked to be used beyond Black Ops 7.
