Curiously, numerous past Call of Duty games are undergoing server maintenance, including classics such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Although server updates aren’t unusual, they certainly are for games that have been left in the past, especially when it comes to Call of Duty.
Meanwhile, teams over at Treyarch and Raven Software are preparing to roll out the Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 4 Reloaded update. The new mid-season content drop will see Fringe return to the multiplayer map pool, debut a Beavis and Butt-Head crossover, and add new toys to the loot pool.
Rewind the clock
The official Call of Duty Updates X account informed players of the titles that will be impacted by the server maintenance period.
Maintenance is scheduled for July 2 between 3am-7am PT for the titles listed below. Players will be unable to log into these Call of Duty titles during this downtime window:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
- Call of Duty: World War II
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- Call of Duty: Black Ops
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Of course, speculation has begun about why these past titles are undergoing maintenance. Once a Call of Duty’s year-long lifecycle has ended, updates typically stop, so it’s surprising to see the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops here, considering the fact it launched back in 2010.
Could these classic Call of Duty games be preparing to come to Game Pass? Considering the fact that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: World War II are already on Game Pass and they’re still on the list, it’s anyone’s guess.
