The long-awaited Xbox handheld was revealed during the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. Microsoft has partnered with hardware manufacturer Asus, to create the new ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X. However, key details such as a release date and pricing for the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X were missed out, but a new leak has shed some light on what Xbox has planned.

With the success of the Nintendo Switch and Sony launching the PlayStation Portal, it’s hardly surprising that Xbox wants to get in there with their own portable console. The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, with the latter being more powerful, quite literally lives up to the Xbox Play Anywhere mantra.

The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handheld consoles are expected to be available to the public for the very first time at Gamescom 2025. Reputable leaker billbil-kun over at Dealabs Magazine has indicated that the pricing of Xbox’s upcoming portable consoles match previous leaks, with the Xbox Ally coming in at €599 and the Xbox Ally X expected to wield a €899 price tag.

According to Dealabs, both models will go on sale for pre-orders from August 20, 2025. A live broadcast by Xbox is planned for the same day, with a section dedicated to the Xbox Ally. Perhaps, this will be used as an opportunity to announce pricing, the official release date and set pre-orders live.

If this leak is anything to go by, it won’t be long before Xbox fully pulls back the curtain on the ROG Ally and Ally X, the company’s first handheld console which will change the game for this type of play.
