Marvel Rivals has revealed that it will be introducing a new team-up ability for The Thing and Human Torch as part of its collaboration with the upcoming film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The team-up, fittingly named First Steps, is between Human Torch and The Thing.
It wasn’t long ago that Marvel Rivals got its Season 3 update, deploying a new map and Phoenix as the latest duelist. Her ultimate allows her to shoot through the sky and crash down onto a selected area, dealing devastating damage to enemies, all while creating a shockwave. It appears that Human Torch and The Thing have taken a leaf out of Phoenix’s book with their team-up ability.
The Thing mains rejoice
In a post via the official Marvel Rivals X account, fans get a first look at the First Steps team-up. It seems Human Torch is stronger than we thought in Marvel Rivals, as the ability sees Human Torch pick up The Thing and carry his fellow Fantastic Four member across the battlefield. After flying through the sky, The Thing can drop on any unfortunate foes. When he lands, he does area damage that throws enemies up in the air and leaves behind a damage area that stays on the ground. There’s no doubt that the ability will be extremely impactful, especially when infiltrating enemy backlines.
The First Steps team-up ability will be live in Marvel Rivals on July 24, 2025. At the same time, new Fantastic Four cosmetics will launch, inspired by The Fantastic Four: First Steps film. Each member of the group will get a fresh skin, all sporting blue costumes with white accents. It’s unknown how much the skins will cost when they hit the in-game store.
