Disney Speedstorm brings fan favourite Disney and Pixar characters to life in an action-packed racing game. Like many modern games, it does have cosmetics locked behind a battle pass which already causes a stir among players. Disney Speedstorm is about to get controversial battle pass changes which includes implementing real life currency.
Gameloft announced the news in a community update and it was understandably met with frustration from the playerbase.
Disney Speedstorm battle pass changes
Previously, the battle pass could be purchased with in-game tokens, but that’s about to be a distant memory. Each previous season’s tournaments and Golden Pass cosmetics will be tied to a Vault Pass which will have both free and premium tiers. However, you must purchase it with real money as it will be locked behind a $7.99 price tag. A Vault Pass bundle will also be an option, granting an extra 15 tier skips in exchange for $15.99.
That’s not all. Significant changes are set to be made to both Golden Passes and the Season Tour, and you guessed it, these too require you to make real money purchases.
Going forward, seasons will be split into two parts and last around a month. Each part will have four to five Season Tour Chapters, with a total of 100 tiers of free rewards. Tiers will now require only 1,000 XP to complete, making it must faster to earn.
However, each part will have a premium Golden Pass for $9.99 or a Golden Pass bundle for $19.99 which again, includes 15 tier skips.
If you have any tokens remaining, they won’t entirely go to waste. Golden Pass Credits can still be used to unlock the Premium Golden Pass, but the rework will go live with the launch of Disney Speedstorm Season 7 on April 17.
