At Summer Game Fest 2025, a trailer gave a peek at gameplay from Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. However, the biggest surprises were in the character roster, which is made up of more than those from the Sonic franchise.
There will also be crossplay in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, as confirmed at Summer Game Fest, so you’ll be able to play with your friends, no matter what platform you are on. At the same time, you can aim for victory solo, or as a team in a variety of offline and online modes.
A merge of worlds
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds has the largest roster of any Sonic racing game, with 23 racers to choose from at launch. More will arrive post-launch with various updates.
Hatsune Miku, Joker, and Ichiban Kasuga will all be able to take the wheel and race through the various tracks to try make it to the podium. That’s not all, a Minecraft collaboration will see Steve and friends race through the blocky world that gamers know and love. Those aren’t the faces anyone expected, but the fanbase are sure to welcome them in with open arms.
Despite these unexpected twists, the racer is still expected to feel familiar to Sonic fans. Players will warp through Travel Rings through SEGA universes across new dimensions. Recognisable power-ups will be useable in Grand Prix, Race Park, Time Attack, and Frenzy modes.
Race across land, sea, air, space, and time on the 24 main tracks and 15 Crossworlds that make up Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. The game unfortunately still doesn’t doesn’t have a release date to look forward to. However, you can add it to your wishlist on your chosen platform.
