PC players have been enjoying the System Shock remake since May 2023, while Xbox and PlayStation owners have patiently been waiting for their turn. Our prayers have been answered and now the revised version of the action-adventure is gearing up to make its console debut.
System Shock was developed by Looking Glass Studio in 1994 and it garnered a huge fanbase from day one. To ensure the remake remains true to its roots, current developers Nightdive Studios worked closely with the creators of the original game. Those hopping in for the first time will still be able to experience the classic game, while it will feel refreshing to veterans players
When will the System Shock remake release on console?
The System Shock remake will hit Xbox and PlayStation consoles on May 21, 2024. This includes PS4 and Xbox One, so users of both old and new generation consoles will be able to play the remake in all its glory.
Upon loading into the System Shock remake, the visual overhaul is the biggest enhancement that will immediately catch your eye. The mechanics have also been adapted, transforming the movement to follow suit of more modern-day first person titles.
Gameplay wise, the remake has an alternate ending when you come face-to-face with the SHODAN antagonist, but at least the same voice actor has stuck around for the revamp. Originally, the replacement finale outcome divided the community, but the development team are sticking to their guns and bringing the new ending to consoles.
If the System Shock remake being announced for console wasn’t exciting enough, a fresh trailer has dropped to hype up the announcement.
