A small Fortnite update has gone live which has shook up the meta on the island. The developers have unexpectedly hit Grenades and Heavy Sniper Rifles with a nerf. We’ve got all the details you need to know about the patch before you hop into your next match.
Destroying enemy builds takes a lot of fire power, which is why Grenades and the Heavy Sniper Rifle were considered to be the best weapons to get the job done. Now, we will have to find a new way to get opponents out of cover.
Fortnite nerf to Grenades and Heavy Snipers takes away their power
The hotfix was announced via the official Fortnite Status Twitter account. Here, players were informed that Heavy Sniper Rifle damage to structures has been significantly reduced and Grenades now deal less damage to players and significantly less damage to structures.
Previously, Grenades did 100 damage to players and 375 damage to structures. Now, they do only 75 damage to builds and 40 player damage. The Heavy Sniper was also hit hard by the update, now dealing 165/158/150 damage to builds instead of 660/630/600 (depending on rarity.)
These changes apply across all modes, including both core and competitive playlists. Although Grenades are still capable of dealing a decent amount of damage, the nerf means that there are way better items to have in your inventory slot in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2.
