CDL Champs to be “60% bigger” than past events held in Canada

It’s just hours until the Call of Duty League 2025 World Championship begins in Kitchener, Canada. Despite the lack of marketing or communication from the CDL itself, the event is already reaching new heights.

Day 1 sees all eight qualified team start in a double elimination bracket. There are four matches scheduled for the first day, with the most anticipated being the historic rivalry that is OpTic Texas vs Atlanta FaZe.

Putting Canada on the radar

In an update on X, Adam Adamou, the CEO and co-founder of OverActive Media, which is the parent company of Toronto Ultra, this year’s Call of Duty World Championship host, had this to say:

“Excited to share that the CoD World Championship will be the biggest CDL event ever held in Canada. We’re talking 60% bigger than our Majors in Toronto, in a venue twice the size. We’ll be ramping up Thursday and Friday, and we’ll be PACKED for the weekend.”

For 2025, the Call of Duty League World Championship is going outside of the US for the very first time. Players will travel to Canada and battle it out at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium (The Aud, Kitchener, Ontario.) The event has been criticised for not taking place in Toronto by both fans and professional players alike. The main reason is accessibility, distancing the event from the biggest city in Canada doesn’t seem to be the best move, business wise or for potential spectators.

The Call of Duty League World Championship will begin on June 26 and the winner will be crowned on Championship Sunday on June 29, 2025. OpTic Texas hosted and won the 2024 World Championship in Arlington, Texas. There’s no doubt that Toronto Ultra will be aiming to do the same on their home soil.
