Dinkum has remained on PC since it went into Early Access almost three years ago. Ever since, it has garnered a dedicated player base as updates continue to roll out to improve the experience. With Dinkum preparing to launch version 1.0, fans have finally received word on a console release.
A full release for Dinkum means a rental system which will bring new characters to the island, new recipes to discover, and a Creative Mode to allow your imagination to run wild. Also, multiplayer hosts will have more control of what their guests can do on their island, and guest players will have access to features that were once available to hosts only.
Dinkum prepares for its console debut
As part of the announcement that Dinkum is leaving Early Access, plans for a console port were teased. “Thanks to the growing number of players enjoying Dinkum, we’ve received many requests to bring the game to more platforms beyond PC. To live up to such expectations, we’re thrilled to reveal that we’ve been working toward that goal. We hope to deliver some exciting news about releasing Dinkum for one of the popular gaming consoles later this year. We’ll be sure to share more information as soon as everything is ready. We truly appreciate your interest, we are also looking forward to the console version as much as you do.”
At the moment, it’s unknown which console Dinkum will be playable on out of Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch. Work continues behind the scenes to bring the game to a new platform later this year, meaning an announcement shouldn’t be too far away. Could Dinkum be part of the industry summer showcases? Only time will tell.
