Avowed dev shares game tips, including how to get “frankly insane” buffs

avowed beginner tips from developer

Although Avowed hasn’t officially released, those that placed a pre-order of the Premium Edition are enjoying an early access period. Being thrown into the Living Lands can feel daunting, especially with all the dangers that reside on the island. To kickstart your journey, an Avowed developer has shared their top tips for survival.

Already, you have various utilities at your disposal to assist your Avowed progress. This includes a diverse set of weaponry in the form of swords, spells, guns, and shields. Companions are also part of your adventure, battling it out alongside you, equipped with their own unique set of abilities.

The fate of the Living Lands is in your hands

Region Director and Senior Area Designer at Obsidian Entertainment, Berto Ritger, shared some advice on X that new Avowed players can take on board and existing players can used to improve their gameplay.

Ritger says to buy lockpicks whenever you see them and to make use of cooking to eat when out of combat to replenish health/essence, reducing pressure on potion supplies. Also, breaking down unused uniques for adra is recommended to combine lower-tier adra for higher-tier adra at camp.

Perhaps the most important tips in the post are to save the game before trying an enchantment. Since enchantments can’t be undone, it may be beneficial to test them out beforehand and reload your previous save to get them back. Moreover, Ritger says to seek out God Totem pieces, as “the buffs they give are frankly insane.”

God Totems in Avowed provide valuable passive boosts. Once you’ve collected all God Totem pieces, put them together on the rock to the left of the campfire in your camp. By doing so, a list of all the passives you’ll be granted will appear.

Avowed is a world packed with ancient mysteries. If you want to find out more about what the game has to offer, check out our review:
