Battlefield 2042 was nothing short of a disastrous launch when it first hit storefronts in November 2021. To avoid history repeating itself, the upcoming entry in the Battlefield franchise will go through more player testing than ever, thanks to Battlefield Labs.
Battlefield Labs has been described by EA as “the most ambitious community development collaboration ever, where a select number of fans will step inside the war room.” All aspects of the next Battlefield game such as maps, combat system, and modes are expected to be part of the test.
How to sign up for the Battlefield Labs playtest
To be in with the chance of becoming a playtester, sign up via the Battlefield Labs website. Before signing up, make sure that you have an EA account that is linked to the platform you play on. Initial tests will be for players in North America and Europe, but there are plans to expand server locations in the future.
If you are selected for a playtest, you will receive an email with further details. It’s unknown when exactly the first playtest will start, but it is expected to begin “in the coming weeks.”
Those invited to take part in a playtest will have the opportunity to offer feedback to the development teams via a private Discord channel. If you find yourself on the sidelines, you can look forward to public recaps and updates on the Battlefield team’s findings, thanks to playtest participation.
Everything will be kept top secret, as all players invited to join Battlefield Labs will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement and will not be able to discuss or show anything away from the private Discord channel.
Battlefield Labs will be available to PC owners via the EA App, PlayStation 5 (PlayStation Plus subscription required) and Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Game Pass Core subscription required.)
