The nominees for the 67th Grammy Awards have been announced, including for the best video game soundtrack of the year.
Five games have been nominated for their soundtrack, including a DLC and a remake. Among those are AAA titles from notable developers such as Ubisoft and Insomniac Games.
2025 Grammy Awards: Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media
The award goes to a composer for an original score created specifically for, or as a companion to, video games and other interactive media.
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora — Pinar Toprak, composer
- God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla — Bear McCreary, composer
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 — John Paesano, composer
- Star Wars Outlaws — Wilbert Roget, II, composer
- Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord — Winifred Phillips, composer
The Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media category has gone through some adjustments that are in effect for the 2025 awards show and beyond.
The rules have been changed to allow qualifications for released material, specifically new DLCs and seasonal expansions. The updated qualification requires that more than 50% of the music on an otherwise eligible Video Game Soundtrack or Interactive Media Soundtrack must be from new episodes or new programming released during the Grammy eligibility year for which it is entered.
Due to this adjustment, the God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla DLC received a nomination, making Bear McCreary the only composer to be nominated three times in this category. His first nomination was for Call of Duty: Vanguard, followed by the God of War Ragnarök base game.
The 67th annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 2, 2025. The show will be broadcast on CBS and it can also be streamed via Paramount+.
