Sonic Generations is being delisted as a standalone title

sonic generations will be delisted September 9 2024

Sonic X Shadow Generations is an upcoming remaster of Sonic Generations, featuring Shadow’s previous adventures with reworked visuals, as well as a brand new campaign. Unfortunately, the original Sonic Generations will be delisted to make way for the next era of the franchise.

Sega has responded to concerns from fans about the delisting by introducing a new bundle, so the game isn’t completely lost to time.

Out with the old

In a post via the official Sonic the Hedgehog X account, it was confirmed that Sonic Generations will be delisted on September 9, 2024.

“We’re excited to share Sonic X Shadow Generation with you this October and see a new generation cherish this game as much as we do! On 9/9, the original Sonic Generations will be removed as a standalone title. But, we’ve heard your feedback, and want to help preserve the game.”

In an effort to make sure the 2011 game isn’t lost forever, “Sonic Generations will still be available via bundles of other iconic Sonic titles on Steam and Xbox. Existing owners of the title will still be able to download and play, as well.”

Those who play Sonic Generations with mods on the Steam version will not be impacted by the store delisting, assures Sega.

The new collection goes by the name of Sonic the Hedgehog Legacy Bundle and it includes numerous classic Sonic titles which are:

  • Sonic Generations Collection
  • Sonic Adventure DX
  • Sonic Adventure 2
  • Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2
  • Sonic 3D Blast
  • Sonic Spinball

The bundle is priced at $59.99 USD and it’ll be the only way for new players to hop into Sonic Generations after September 9. If you’ve already purchased Sonic Generations, you’ll still be able to play and download the game whenever you please.
