Just days ago, New-Star-340 put out a Reddit post on the Starfield subreddit outlining Project Tamriel. It was set to be one of the biggest Starfield mods to date, bringing an Elder Scrolls-themed planet to the universe. However, it has now been cancelled and plans have been halted before they even started.
Many Starfield fans commented that the project never existed to begin with and the post was simply bait. Although we may never truly know, the minds behind the idea have responded.
Starfield Project Tamriel isn’t clear for take off
According to VG247 who reached out to the New-Star-340 modding team, the reason for the cancellation of the project was the fact that “it became clear that the support we were hoping for just wasn’t there.” They continued, “many fans voiced concerns and indicated that they were not interested in seeing this project come to fruition. In terms of the team, we were a small group of passionate modders excited about the possibilities. However, the feedback we received made us realize that the excitement we felt wasn’t shared by the broader community.”
In response to the accusations that the post was satire, New-Star-340 said “I want to emphasise that the project was genuine.” With that being said, New-Star-340 say that if “another team is interested in picking up where we left off, we would certainly support their efforts.”
When the Skyrim planet mod was announced to be in development, it was described as an “ambitious and groundbreaking modding endeavour.” Merging Skyrim, Oblivion, and Morrowind into a singular Starfield planet sounds like a Bethesda fan’s dream, but the lack of community support says otherwise.
