From this point onwards, February 23, 2024 will be remembered as the day the Call of Duty servers had a complete meltdown. Modern Warfare 3 Zombies became completely inaccessible, Ranked Play was offline, levels were reset, and custom loadouts were completely broken. This all occurred ahead of a double XP period, so Call of Duty fans were unable to take advantage of the event.
Now the servers are back in tact, Call of Duty owners are getting rewarded for enduring a weekend of pure chaos.
All Call of Duty players are set to receive extra XP
In a post via the official Call of Duty account on X, Activision announce that “as a thank you” for player’s patience, the existing double XP event is being extended until “February 27th at 8AM PT.” Also, a double weapon, player, and battle pass XP token “should populate in inventories shortly.”
Even if you didn’t attempt to log in when the Call of Duty servers were experiencing issues, you will be granted the free double XP tokens anyway. However, it’s worth noting that double XP tokens don’t stack, so you must wait for the double XP event to conclude before you can use your newly acquired XP boosts.
Despite being just a small hand out, the extra XP can make a huge difference in progressing through battle pass sectors or levelling up weapons. With that being said, just before the server troubles, a patch rolled out on February 21 which spawned more issues, so some may argue that the compensation isn’t enough for the number of problems the player base has had to endure.
