Skull Horde demo challenges you to fight evil flesh ahead of its 2025 release

skull horde demo

Skull Horde is an auto battler dungeon crawler that just released its demo and fans of the genre will definitely want to see what the game has to offer through the newly-released demo.

Developed by indie developer 8BitSkull, Skull Horde transforms players into a flying skull necromancer on a quest for revenge, commanding a loyal army of undead to defeat evil flesh. In roguelike runs that take approximately 20 minutes to complete, fight through procedurally generated dungeons with your minions, unlocking powerful perks and strategically purchasing new units to build your squad.

As far as auto battling goes, Skull Horde goes by the book. The game is realtime, and your minions battle independently. Your role is to develop your squad, choose where to explore, when to move on, and pick the correct upgrades.

Having a body is overrated, anyway

The Skull Horde demo allows players to dive skull-first into one full run, based in the Sewer biome. Despite the absence of meta progression, the demo has replayability and is made up of multiple units, diverse loot, and many possible builds.

As for the full game, expect to be thrown into different dungeon types, each equipped with a set of unique challenges to complete. These challenges call for different strategies to succeed, while rewarding you with new unlocks and content.

As you progress, you will unlock powerful perks that you can select at the beginning of a run. Combine your chosen perks with the strengths of the different playable characters to create the strongest build possible. When it comes to your troops, there are numerous unit types to build your squad throughout each run. Every unit has different special abilities and purchasing multiple units of the same type merges them into stronger versions, until they eventually unlock a unique special ability.

Skull Horde will be released on PC via Steam on an unannounced date in 2025. It will also support Steam Deck and Linux platforms.
