Bus Bound revealed, sequel to Bus Simulator 21

Stillalive Studios has returned to the simulation genre with the reveal of a new game—Bus Bound. This is the follow-up to the well-received Bus Simulator 18 and Bus Simulator 21 titles. Set in the fictional city of Emberville, players are tasked with building an emerging bus transit empire through the city. The goal is to expand the route network and sway the public to make more use of the burgeoning transport infrastructure.

Back on the line

Bus Bound builds up from the foundation that Bus Simulator 21 left behind. Fans of that game will immediately notice the similarities from the new promo material that’s been released. It seems that route planning will function much the same way, albeit with some expected improvements, including a much more detailed route map.

On that note, the graphics have also been given quite the upgrade. Bus Simulator 21 still holds up to this day, but the early screenshots of Bus Bound show off some impressive levels of fidelity. Dynamic time of day and varying weather conditions are just some new highlights. Here’s hoping it’s not too burdensome on the average rig, which was the case with the past entry.

Bus Bound sports licensed manufacturers, including the Blue Bird Sigma and New Flyer Xcelsior. For now, it seems to just be US brands as the fictional city of Emberville is based in stillalive’s rendition of the US.

As players expand their route network, they’ll unlock more districts throughout the city and transform them in new ways. In addition to changing the look and feel of the city, players will be able to customise their fleet with new paint jobs and liveries, just as was the case in Bus Simulator 21.

Bus Bound has a tentative “Coming Soon” release target, and will be launching on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
