For long-time Palia fans, the free Elderwood update is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. At the same time, Singularity 6 are opening the doors to a new player base, with a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launch arriving on the same day. Before players can see what the Elderwood has to offer, a period of scheduled downtime will take place in Palia.
The Elderwood expansion and console release will happen on May 13, 2025. However, the downtime before that will take the game offline for a long time in modern standards.
Dangerous magic is brewing
In preparation for the Elderwood expansion and Palia’s debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, there will be a lengthy period of downtime.
The downtime schedule is as follows:
- Start – 8am PT / 4pm BST on Monday, May 12, 2025
- End – 10am PT / 6pm BST on Tuesday, May 13, 2025
During this window, Palia will be temporarily unavailable across all platforms as the team behind the title work on what they call “Palia’s biggest update yet.” In fact, the Elderwood is an entirely new region, where you’ll be tasked with helping Subira uncover the mystery of an unknown essence by working through new quests, searching the area for collectibles, creatures, fish, bugs and so much more.
Hidden Artefacts that unlock powerful Relics will be added with the Elderwood, a new equipment system that buffs you and your party. At the same time, there will be more stylish options to customise your plot. Did we mention new plushies to hunt down?
While the game is offline, the patch notes for the Palia Elderwood update will be released, detailing all the new content and gameplay changes players can expect to see when they hop back in, or load up for the first time on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.
