Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will get to enjoy an assortment of titles from the classic Nintendo GameCube on their new Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. This announcement came part of the slew of news from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
Purple power
Much like the other systems featured in the Nintendo Switch Online library, there will be a selected number of games brought over from the GameCube. These games have been given a simple touch-up with improved image quality and higher resolutions.
Additionally, online multiplayer support has been added to these re-releases, just like other NSO titles.
Nintendo has gone the extra mile by producing a subtly redesigned Nintendo GameCube controller for the Nintendo Switch 2.

It features the same layout and design as the original controller, albeit with the addition of the extra face buttons that are featured on the Joy-Con 2, including the “Home”, “Capture”, “ZL” and all-new “C” button. The latter is used in conjunction with the system’s new GameChat functionality.
Just like the redesigned NES Controllers from a few years ago, the new GameCube Controller will be exclusively available for purchase by Nintendo Switch Online members.
If you still have an OG GameCube controller, you can use the Nintendo GameCube Controller adapter that was released for the original Switch; it remains compatible with Switch 2, along with a slew of other accessories.
