Split Fiction has launched to high acclaim as a true co-op experience. Hazelight Studios used a Friend’s Pass back in the It Takes Two days and they have carried over the feature to Split Fiction. Friend’s Pass allows you to embark on this adventure with another player, even if they haven’t purchased the game for themselves.
Split Fiction is a unique split-screen or online game that is exclusively designed for two-player cooperative play. Grabbing a friend is essential if you want to dive into the story. Friend’s Pass makes that a whole lot easier.
Sharing is caring
Before you team up with a buddy via Friend’s Pass, one of you must own Split Fiction, while the other needs to download the free Friend’s Pass via the Split Fiction store page on their platform. Then, title owners can select “play online” within the main game screen and you will be able to invite any friend who has the Friend’s Pass downloaded.
If one or both of you are on opposing consoles, make sure you have crossplay invites enabled. On PlayStation, this can be done by navigating to the Privacy Settings of your console’s Options menu. Xbox users can enable crossplay from the Account Settings.
As soon as your friend accepts the invite, you will team up and get to play the full Split Fiction experience. However, if you want to give the title a trial run before one of you purchases the game, you can both download the Friend’s Pass to try out a demo version. If you decide to buy the game, your progress from the demo will carry over to the full game.

No matter whether you’re on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S, all platforms have access to the Split Fiction Friend’s Pass and crossplay functionalities.
