Halo Infinite is going tactical with a new mode known as Seek and Deploy. It is similar to the foundation of various tactical shooters such as Counter-Strike and Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy.
The basics are that Seek and Deploy is a single life mode where the first team to reach six round wins takes the map victory. One team starts on Offense, the other starts on Defense, with teams switching sides each round. Offense must determine which of the two sites to attack and initiate an Extraction on the site. Once the Extraction begins, the defending team must stop it.
A new dynamic in Halo Infinite
Seek and Deploy will have its own economy system, similar to that of VALORANT and Counter-Strike. Players are primarily rewarded with Credits for initiating Extractions, converting Extractions, and achieving kills. There are also neutral devices on the map where players can bank themselves extra credits.
Before each round begins, players can spend their credits on weapons, grenades, equipment, and even power equipment like Active Camo. Of course, the more powerful an item is, the more Credits it will cost to purchase. Everything you’ve purchased goes away at the end of each round, so spend wisely.

Halo Infinite is bringing its own twist to the tactical mode via a Buy Back system. If you’ve died in a round and you’ve got enough Credits, you’ll be given the option to Buy Back into the round. If you Buy Back, you’ll spawn at your team’s initial spawn point and with just a base loadout (Bandit Evo, no grenades, no equipment.) The Buy Back will be expensive and treated as a trade off, adding an extra layer of calculation between risk and reward.
Seek and Deploy will also be added to Halo esports when it launches on a date that is yet to be confirmed. However, you can see professional players try out Seek and Deploy for the first time at FaZe Kaysan’s Invitational Showdown on March 29, 2025.
