Will Assassin’s Creed Shadows launch on Steam?

will assassin's creed shadows launch on steam

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will take the series to Japan, allowing you to switch between two protagonists and discover their common destiny. The game will contain many firsts, such as a new movement system and even the ability to create your very own customisable hideout for you and your crew. Releasing Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Steam from day one would also be a first, given previous timed exclusivity and Ubisoft having their own PC store.

In the past, Assassin’s Creed games have been delayed on Steam due to Ubisoft’s exclusivity deal with Epic Games. Although PC players were still able to get in on the action, it meant that the game couldn’t be played via a preferred launcher for some players.

Will Assassin’s Creed Shadows come to Steam?

The short answer is, yes. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be on Valve’s storefront on day one. In fact, the Steam page is already up and you can add the game to your wishlist to receive a notification when the servers go live. It’s expected that you will need an internet connection and a Ubisoft account in order to play through Steam.

It was recently announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be delayed until March 20, 2025. According to Ubisoft, the upcoming entry in the long-running franchise needs more time to enable a polished experience from the word ‘go.’ Hopefully, this means the developers are acting on community feedback and are able to ship a complete game, rather than having to patch it up post launch.

However, this won’t be the last we hear from Feudal Japan until the new release date. Ubisoft promise that there are more updates in the pipeline, but it’s unknown what those will look like at this stage.
