Official Civilization 7 gameplay was revealed at Gamescom 2024 and a deep dive followed which showed off new franchise features. Fans can secure the Emperor and Revolutionary Personas for the upcoming Civilization 7 leader, Napoleon Bonaparte.
No matter what version of Napoleon you play as, he is a warmonger, meaning you’ll get bonuses for being hostile and have powerful military options at your disposal.
An Empire built for war
Those who sign up for a 2K account or link an existing account to the platform that you are going to play Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on will unlock the Emperor and Revolutionary Personas for Napoleon Bonaparte.
To do so, sign up or login via the 2K website and link your 2K account to the platform you use to play Civilization VI via the “Connections” tab underneath “Account Overview,” seen on the left side of the screen. Then, open up Civilization VI and log into your 2K account to confirm the connection. When Civilization VII hits storefronts worldwide, repeat this same process with your copy of Civilization VII. If you’re planning to switch platforms before the February 11, 2025 release date, you can still earn the reward because you don’t need to own Civilization VI and Civilization VII on the same platform to be eligible.
Following suit of past leaders who have received an alternate Persona, the Emperor and Revolutionary Personas for Napoleon Bonaparte will be dressed in an alternate outfit and receive new gameplay bonuses.
According to Firaxis Games, “Napoleon’s Revolutionary Persona specialises in culture and military might, with a new Unique Ability: La Grande Armée, giving all army commanders extra movement and granting Culture each time he defeats an enemy unit.”
As for the Emperor variant, he “specialises in commerce and military might, with a new Unique Ability: Empereur des Français, which reduces the Trade Route capacity for a target civilization and causes massive Grievances. He also gets bonus Gold per Age for every leader he’s Unfriendly or Hostile with, but less Gold per Age for every leader who sees him as Friendly or Helpful.”
The Emperor and Revolutionary Personas for Napoleon Bonaparte will be playable in Civilization 7 from day one.
