The Call of Duty Direct which took place earlier this month provided our first official look at Black Ops 6. The teams over at Treyarch and Raven software revealed the narrative behind the campaign and gave a glimpse of multiplayer. A select few 6v6 maps were showcased, along with weapons, the gunsmith system, and of course, omnimovement. The innovation that is omnimovement is expected to flip the franchise on its head, but will the mechanic arrive on the battlefields of Warzone?
Black Ops 6 will have the most advanced movement in Call of Duty history. For the first time ever, operators will be able to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. As a result, manoeuvres can be chained together, while allowing for a full 360 degrees range of motion.
Pushing the boundaries of mobility
When speaking to Screen Rant, Yale Miller, Director of Production at Treyarch confirmed that omnimovement is coming to Warzone. Miller also said, Black Ops 6 will feature “familiar live seasons” and reaffirmed that Black Ops 6 is “built upon a shared engine that all Call of Duty studios use.”
It isn’t surprising that Warzone movement will be following suit with multiplayer. In the past, the modes have share perks, weapons, and slide cancelling, for example.
The developers are remaining tight-lipped about the future of Warzone. However, more details will be revealed at the Call of Duty Next event which is scheduled to take place on August 28, 2024. Betas following the event will give fans their first opportunity to try out what Black Ops 6 has to offer, including hands-on experience with omnimovement.
