Palworld went into Early Access in January 2024 and became a hit from the word go. According to Pocketpair, Palworld clones are in development to capitalise on the game’s success, with Tencent coming under fire.
Tencent Games are veterans in the games industry to say the least. They have a decorated portfolio of titles which only continues to grow. Is their next entry really going to be a Palworld replica?
Pocketpair call out Tencent
CEO of Pocketpair, Takuro Mizobe took to X to claim that Tencent are developing a Palworld clone. The post reads:
“Tencent is already making a Palworld clone game! In China, various companies are simultaneously developing mobile clones of Palworld, and the budget scale is about 10 billion yen, 10 times that of Palworld… It looks like there will be a ton of Genshin-quality monster (or girl) breeding games released next year… Amazing times”
Mizobe also shared a screenshot from Tencent’s upcoming game which shows small characters transporting items around a base, similar to the way you can set your Pals to work in Palworld.
The game in question goes by the name of Auroria and according to its official Steam description, it’s “an open-world, multiplayer, and cooperative sandbox game. Design the Base, survive with your pals, and start your own interstellar travel in a relaxed and fun way.”
At first glance, Auroria appears to share some similarities with Palworld and it certainly doesn’t help their case that they refer to helper as “pals.” Auroria is expected to launch during Q2 of 2024.
