The action-packed arena of The Finals sees you compete against other players to survive a game show like no other. There are an abundance of weapons at your disposal to help you achieve your objectives.
If you’re new to The Finals or you want to try out the game for the first time, you may be wondering if aim assist is enabled, especially if you’re less experienced with team-based shooters.
Does The Finals have aim assist?
The Finals does have aim assist and with the feature enabled, you’ll gain a helping hand in tracking your opponents and landing accurate shots.
To enable or disable aim assist in The Finals, all you have to do is:
- Open the in-game settings menu located towards the top right-hand corner of the screen.
- From the menu, choose the “Controller” tab.
- Scroll until you see “Controller Aim Assist” and you’ll be presented with an option to toggle it on or off.
Aim assist is a controversial aspect of the FPS genre. The strength of aim assist can determine how competitive gunfights are. Don’t forget that aim assist is front and centre of the keyboard and mouse against controller debate, of course.
The Finals released in December 2023 and one of the main talking points from day one was regarding aim assist. This prompted the developers to make significant aim assist changes, after the community unanimously agreed that it was too overpowered.
Just a month after the game’s surprise launch, a patch rolled out, a cap was placed on Zoom Snapping Angular Velocity to stop fast, unintended 90-degree turns. In addition, Camera Magnetism was reduced to lower controller accuracy, while Zoom Snapping was removed from certain weapons. Controller players weren’t the only ones hit during the aim assist nerf, as those using re-mapping programs on PC no longer had access to aim assist.
Whether you love or hate the feature, The Finals battlefield is far more balanced in terms of aim assist than it once was.
