Can your PC run Forza Motorsport? Here are the system requirements

Various cars in Forza Motorsport line up

Forza Motorsport is just weeks away from launch, and Turn 10 Studios has brought some fresh details to Gamescom 2023, including the system requirements.

Let’s cut right to the chase. Below are the full PC system requirements.

Shifting into gear

The absolute minimum specs that Forza Motorsport requires on PC is a modest Intel Core i5-8400 (6 cores @2.8Ghz) CPU or Ryzen 5 1060 (6 cores @3.2Ghz) CPU, Nvidia GTX 1060 (6GB) GPU or RX 550 XT GPU, 4GB of VRAM, 8GB of dedicated system RAM, and an SSD with 130GB of free space.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, for the best experience on PC, your rig needs either an Intel Core i711700K or Ryzen 7 5800X with 8 physical cores, Nvidia RTX 4080 or RX 7900XT, 16GB of VRAM, 16GB of system RAM, and specifically an NvME SSD with 130GB of free space.

PC perks

While Forza Motorsport is set to both look and run gorgeous across PC and Xbox Series consoles, the PC build is confirmed to feature some extra ‘pizzazz’. This includes features such as resolutions “up to 4K and beyond, RG1 unlocked framerates in single-player gameplay with or without V-Sync, HDR calibration, shader precaching, DirectInput API (for various wheels and devices,) customisable FOV, support for ultrawide displays, and more.”

PC players will also be able to take advantage of Nvidia DLSS 2 (if running on an Nvidia RTX GPU) and AMD FSR 2.2. Both of these AI-enhanced renders allow for better performance, without sacrificing visual fidelity.

You may also notice that the mention of an SSD is listed beneath all tiers of the PC specs sheet. Turn 10 confirms that Forza Motorsport outright requires an SSD on PC, no matter what your setup is. Thankfully, it does at least support DirectStorage on the CPU side of things, ensuring fast loading times for tracks.

If you were curious about VR, however, Forza Motorsport won’t support it. What is being supported for the first-time ever however, is cross-progression between the Xbox/Microsoft Store version of the game with the Steam version. This only applies to progress, however.

Any DLC purchased on the Xbox/Microsoft Store version will not be accessible on the Steam release, or vice-versa. Meanwhile, any purchases made on the Xbox version will be completely accessible in the Microsoft Store version on PC and vice-versa.

VIP benefits

Along with these various details about the PC release, Turn 10 has also revealed the benefits of VIP membership (which is included in the Deluxe and Premium editions, in addition to being available as a standalone purchasable perk.)

All VIP racers will enjoy a permanent 2x Credits boost, receive 5 specially-modified custom Forza Edition cars, VIP Driver Gear for the player avatar, a VIP Player Card and VIP Crown Flair, along with VIP-exclusive Rivals events.

Forza Motorsport welcome pack cars

At launch, there will also be the Forza Motorsport Welcome Pack. This includes 5 rides that will be immediately unlocked, such as the 2020 Toyota Supra (pictured above) and 500,000 Credits right out of the gate. All five cars are already in the sim’s sister-title, Forza Horizon 5.

Forza Motorsport will tear up the track on PC and Xbox Series X|S on October 10. Pre-orders are live now on all storefronts, including Steam.
