American Truck Simulator rolls into Oklahoma on August 1

After months of previews, SCS Software has finally revealed that American Truck Simulator players will be hitting the highways of Oklahoma in only a matter of days—August 1st, to be exact.

With the much anticipated release of the new map expansion so near, the development team has released a new trailer and some screenshots to round out the hype train before launch.

Exploring the Sooner State

Oklahoma was one of the last states admitted to the Union; number 46, actually. Nevertheless, it serves as one of the larger states in the country, with a total area of 69,898 sq mi. Of course, not all of this will be represented in American Truck Simulator, but SCS’ rendition of the state has been built with attention to detail in mind.

Truckers will get to experience the various scenic wonders that virtual Oklahoma has to offer, as they’ll be able to explore 10 mapped cities. Unsurprisingly, this includes some of its most well-known cities such as Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

From the hilly plains that its highway network runs across, to the detailed, rustic settlements dotted across the map, Oklahoma has a lot to offer to American Truck Simulator fans.

The new trailer shows off the country-esque vibes of the state:

Oklahoma is the second map expansion to come to American Truck Simulator this year and serves as the follow-up to the major release of Texas a few months back.

Considering that Texas’ massive size runs the entire length of Oklahoma’s southern border, if you have that expansion, there will be various access points to cross over into the new state. Although a proper release date has been announced for the Oklahoma DLC, a price has not. That said, all of the other American Truck Simulator map DLCs, minus Texas, are priced at USD $11.99. Thus, expect Oklahoma to go for the same price. You can wishlist it now on Steam.

Beyond Oklahoma, SCS has not yet announced what’s next for American Truck Simulator. But, following the format that the team has stuck to for some time now, it’s highly likely that the next new DLC will be that of Kansas, which borders Oklahoma to the north.

Kansas also has the already-released state of Colorado to its west, further giving it high potential for being the next release candidate. Then again, SCS could surprise us and push eastward instead, with either Arkansas or Louisiana being next in line. Time will most certainly tell.
