Skateboarding comes to Riders Republic on September 26

Riders Republic - Skateboarding comes September key art

Soon, Riders Republic players will get to carve up the pavement, parks and rails of the Republic with their skateboards. The new sport and its accompanying gear will hit the game on September 26.

Confirmed during the recent June 2023 Ubisoft Forward presentation, the new skate add-on for Riders Republic has been a long time coming. It was first teased and then fully revealed shortly thereafter a few months ago, and fans have been patiently waiting since then.

Hitting decks and grinding rails

All the way back in Season 4, Riders Republic players had access to the BMX add-on. Serving as a bit of a cousin to skateboarding, the BMX gameplay scratched a bit of the itch for the time being.

However, fans have been hoping to see proper skateboards implemented in the game for some time. Hence when the devs at Ubisoft Annecy finally showed it off, its reveal was met with much praise.

Of course, seeing is one thingβ€”feeling is where it’s at. That said, some folks are a little disappointed that skateboarding won’t be coming sooner than September; but still, it’s only a wait of around three more months.

There’s no word yet as to exactly how this new sport will be released, however. Ubisoft Annecy has already caused a bit of a stir within the Riders Republic community with the way the last two content drops were handled in Season 7: Ridge Ultimate and the arrival of the Hoverboard sport.

Unlike past DLC, including sports such as the BMX, the new missions and other content in the Ridge Ultimate pack and the gear with the Hoverboard release are both locked behind individual paywalls. Meanwhile, previous DLCs are also available as individual purchases, but also altogether as a bundle with the Year 1 Season Pass. So far, there’s been no talk of a Year 2 Season Pass, that would theoretically encompass Ridge Ultimate, the Hoverboard, and now Skateboarding.

Considering that purchasing Ridge Ultimate and the Hoverboard as they currently are is already close to the price of the Year 1 Pass (which goes for $39.99 USD on its own,) there’s the potential that the new Skate content for Riders Republic may also come with a relatively hefty price-tag. But, we’ll see what comes of it.

In addition to the new Skate content, Replay Mode functionality is finally being implemented into the game.

Although a specific release date for this addition has not yet been mentioned, this tweet from the official Riders Republic Twitter account paired the news with a short clip of some in-game skateboarding action. So, it’s likely a Replay Mode will be patched before the Skate content drops, or at the same time.
