Donut Media is coming back to the Horizon Festival in Mexico with the upcoming update for Forza Horizon 5 — the Upgrade Heroes update.
This new update will feature a new Horizon Story that will feature Donut’s Hi Car and Low Car, along with the arrival of the Horizon Test Track, and various new car customisation options, among other new bits of content.
“I have the hi ground”
As the team at Playground Games describes it, this update is being targeted at players who love tuning their rides. After all, this is the legacy of the Donut crew’s Hi Car and Low Car; both of which will be available to drive in this update on the new Horizon Test Track.
Both of these cars are modified versions of the iconic Nissan 350Zs, each with customised components, giving them a different look and feel from each other.
These aren’t the only new rides that the Donut Media crew is bringing into Forza Horizon 5, however. Joining the pair of Japanese street racers is the 1994 Ford Supervan ‘Donut Media Edition’ and 1996 Formula Drift #51 Donut Media Nissan 240SX. Both of these vehicles will be unlocked after completing various objectives in the new Horizon Story.
“You spin me right round’ baby”
As is the case with every new content update for Forza Horizon 5, there’s also new Accolades to unlock; good news for the completionists out there.
Almost all of these involve completing the new Donut Media content, though there are also some for making use of the Horizon Test Track and getting into the gears of the Upgrade Heroes Festival Playlist.
This new Festival Playlist has five reward cars to unlock, including the 2023: Formula Drift #64 Forsberg Racing Nissan Z, 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series, 1992 GMC Typhoon and 1991 GMC Syclone.
Forza Horizon 5 Upgrade Heroes also has paid content
Aside from all of this free new content, Playground has actually put together a new paid DLC car pack: the Horizon Car Racing pack. Completely separate from the rollout that was featured in the game’s Car Pass add-on, this totally new DLC pack features four “incredible new-to-Forza cars”.
The lineup includes the 2023 Lotus Emira, 2022 Pagani Huayra R, 2021 Forsberg Racing Nissan Altimaniac and 2020 Saleen Sportruck XR Black Label.
Although the thought of paying for another DLC pack might be a bit off-putting, the price is actually quite fair. Just $4.99 USD is its price tag, meaning that each car comes to roughly $1.25 each. Again, keep in mind that this is a separate pack—even Deluxe and Premium edition owners will have to buy this.
This new DLC pack, as well as all of the content in the Upgrade Heroes update will be coming to Forza Horizon 5 on June 20, 2023.
