Following the success of the Mid-Season Invitational at the Copper Box Arena, there are reports pointing towards League of Legends Worlds making its way back to London in 2024.
MSI 2023 was a hit in London, with teams battling it out in front of a sold-out venue. The event also broke MSI viewership records, with almost 2.3 million viewers tuning into the T1 vs JDG Upper Bracket Finals.
League of Legends Worlds could be heading to London for 2024
According to trusted sources of Esports News UK, Worlds 2024 will be taking place in London. Allegedly, Riot Games are in discussions with government bodies such as London & Partners and the Greater London Authority to organise the event. Its worth noting that London & Partners were the key to bringing MSI to the capital city and they’re apparently “very keen to work with Riot again.”
Esports News UK reveals “one source has claimed that London will host the finals week of Worlds 2024 and that it will take place at the O2 Arena, with other stages of Worlds 2024 taking place in Paris, Berlin and Barcelona.”
The last time League of Legends Worlds took place in London was back in 2015. The prestigious event went on a mini tour of Europe in 2019, where it took place in Berlin, Paris and Madrid.
London hasn’t been confirmed by Riot Games and plans for League of Legends Worlds 2024 could change. With the Global Head of League of Legends esports, Naz Aletaha, telling Esports News UK at a MSI 2023 Riot press conference “you can definitely expect Riot to come back [to the UK with more events in the future,]” its looking promising.
