A blend of Bioshock and Cuphead isn’t something I thought I’d need in my life until I saw the game MOUSE. Developed by Fumi Games, this retro shooter takes inspiration from the classic noir style and 1930s animation.
The game description on Steam is as follows: “Join private detective John Mouston in MOUSE, a gritty, jazz-fueled shooter. With guns blazing and a retro rubber hose animation style, battle your way through a corrupt city full of crooks and danger. Inspired by classic FPS and noir films, MOUSE is the explosive shooter you’ve been waiting for.”
Diving deeper into the game MOUSE
You’ll be faced with various enemies in MOUSE, in a city that’s full of danger and deceit. The game is packed with mid-century firearms and explosives such as a Revolver, Tommy Gun, Hammer, Carcano and Dynamite. As you progress, you’ll be able to level up your weapons and abilities with the “Fantastic-o-Matic” Bioshock-like vending machines. Whether you prefer to go in guns blazing or be stealthy, you’ll be able to get the tools you need to approach combat in a way that suits your playstyle.
Its no secret that the characters in MOUSE appear to have some resemblance to Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse, but they’re armed with weapons, so its definitely not Mickey Mouse. Let’s hope Disney aren’t already writing up a lawsuit.
MOUSE doesn’t yet have a release date, but while we wait, you can take a look at a teaser. The game is still in the early stages of development, but it looks promising.
