With the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S releasing in 2020, its no surprise that last generation consoles are getting left behind. Although Quantum Error was previously announced for PS4, the development team has revealed that this version has now been cancelled.
Quantum Error is an upcoming first-person shooter horror game where you adopt the role of a fireman that is sent out to a remote research facility to put out a raging fire. On arrival, you’ll notice that the fire isn’t the only issue as you’ll be faced with various monstrosities.
Bad news for PS4 owners who were hoping to play Quantum Error
A tweet by the official Quantum Error Twitter account announced:
“Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the PS4 version of QE. Even with the game being made from the beginning for the PS5, we still had hopes we could make a PS4 version happen, but with the level of quality we have achieved with QE with gameplay running at 60fps, we have reach the conclusion that there is no way for us to deliver a version on PS4 that would live up to what the PS5 is going to deliver. A PS4 version would require too much downgrading and changing of assets, lighting and much more to function, and with the difference in memory and the slower HDD speed, it would be a very different experience that will not compare to the PS5 version and would not be fair to PS4 players.”
The game never intended to release on Xbox One, but now it will only launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC port arriving later down the line. A release date is yet to be announced.
