Project Motor Racing, is set to hit the track in Fall 2025. This new racing sim is being developed by Straight4 Studios—founded by alumni of the now defunct but still renowned Slightly Mad Studios. Notable past releases include Project CARS and Need for Speed: Shift. Project Motor Racing is a return-to-form for the team.
Back on track
Project Motor Racing enters the fray of circuit-based racers that’s currently dominated by the likes of big franchises like Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo 7. Nevertheless, the team is keen on putting their skills to the test to deliver a “cutting-edge racing game” that takes a more focused approach.
Rather than the massive car list found in the previously mentioned titles, PMR opts for just over 70 licensed vehicles from brands like Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Audi and more across 10 racing classes. That said, this car list is bound to expand, with plans of DLC already being teased.
On top of that, the game’s mod support is being touted as a key feature, leaving the door wide open for the community to advance the variety of content in expectedly interesting ways.

As one would expect, second in importance to the car list in a track racer are the tracks themselves. PMR is set to feature 27 track layouts that each take advantage of the title’s ‘True2Track’ system, which handles features like dynamic weather and atmospheric conditions. Players will have to take into account varying factors such as ambient temperature, wind speed and direction, gradients, and more.
Only a handful of tracks have been announced thus far, but the list is set to include selections from across almost every region of the world, including The Americas, Asia, Oceania, and Europe.
Gearing up
Built using the GIANTS Engine from GIANTS Software (the studio behind the hit Farming Simulator series,) Straight4 is very excited to deliver a precise physics system that it says provides “unmatched handling realism.”
Notably, GIANTS also happens to be the publisher for Project Motor Racing, signalling a very strong partnership between the two parties.
It will be very interesting to see just how well this new title will fare against more established names in the highly-competitive sim racing scene. But, as the old saying goes, ‘competition breeds creativity.’
Project Motor Racing is slated to roll out this Fall across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Pre-orders for the new game are live now, with the Standard Edition starting at $69.99.
