Capcom has revealed huge changes to the way in which Monster Hunter Wilds Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests work. Earning rewards is now less about competing with others, and more focused on player participation.
Free Challenge Quests are time sensitive and players compete to defeat the target monster as fast as possible using any equipment of their choice. Up to four players can team up to complete the requirements, with Support Hunters also available. Challenge Quests are also limited-time and players must take down the target monster as fast as possible using a pre-determined set of equipment. Here, up to two players can participate, with Support Hunters available.
More rewards for everyone
From this point onwards, Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests will not include rewards that require specific leaderboard rankings. Rankings on the Expedition Record Board will continue to be viewable. Resultingly, this eliminates the need to rank on the leaderboard to earn rewards, instead players are rewarded for either participating in given quests or achieving a specific time that isn’t dependent on leaderboard standings.
Monster Hunter Wilds will also crack down on cheaters. “If our review determines that there has been clear cheating, we will take action to suspend or ban the account in question. The user’s clear time will not be registered in the rankings from that point, and they will not receive the event rewards.”
The quest changes apply to Challenge Quest “Doshaguma of the Hollow” and to all other future questlines. The Doshaguma: Mark of Contest pendant remains a participation reward, while the Doshaguma: Mark of Bravery pendant has moved from Rank ‘A’ Time to a participation reward. The Doshaguma: Mark of Mastery pendant now requires you to hit Rank ‘A’ Time to own, rather than achieving a top 10,000 ranking.
