A new leak relating to Call of Duty 2025 suggests that the game will release on PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
The news may be favourable to those who aren’t yet ready to make the switch to an Xbox Series X/S or PS5. With that said, there’s no doubt that continuing to develop Call of Duty on outdated hardware is holding back the franchise from reaching its full potential.
Call of Duty may not be ready to abandon PS4 and Xbox One just yet
According to sources over at CharlieIntel, “Call of Duty 2025 could still release on PS4 and Xbox One.” It is also speculated that “this may be a reason as to why there can’t be two big maps in Warzone at same time.” Warzone maps have been known to rotate in Resurgence modes, but those are smaller maps. There has never been two big maps in the game at one time.
Although any official Call of Duty 2025 details are yet to be revealed, this isn’t the first leak regarding the upcoming entry in the series. Multiple leakers have corroborated claims that the next Call of Duty game will be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, with the game’s multiplayer maps all being Black Ops 2 remasters. This is similar to the way in which Modern Warfare 3 (2023) released with a map pool made up of entirely remastered maps from the original Modern Warfare 2.

If these maps are to return, it would certainly be a hit of nostalgia for veteran Call of Duty players. However, if omnimovement and doors are here to stay, it definitely won’t feel exactly like 2012 all over again.
Only time will tell what the plans are for Call of Duty 2025, but while we wait for official confirmation from Activision, check out more of the latest Call of Duty news:
