Giants Software’s Farming Simulator series is one of the most prolific franchises in the sim world (yes, believe it or not.) If that didn’t surprise you enough, it also has a relatively popular esports scene known as FSL (Farming Simulator League.) Giants is now leaning into that side of its sim formula with a new update for Farming Simulator 22 that’s been purpose-built for competitive multiplayer: the new Arena & Bale Stacking modes.
Nestled under the ‘esports’ section on the Main Menu, these two new modes invite players to get behind the wheel of their tractors and race to complete the objectives before their opponents.

With the new Bale Stacking Mode, the task is to pitch haybales off the ground and onto a trailer in order to earn points. The stack must be stable and not fall off and all of the action is under a countdown timer. This mode supports up to six players in total.
The other new mode is the team-based Arena Mode. With this mode, two teams comprised of three players each will go against each other by performing typical jobs, including harvesting wheat, pressing bales and then delivering those bales to a barn. To add more complexity to the mix, players must contend with a “pick & ban phase, [and] randomized power-ups.” All of this allows for “multiple strategic approaches” to be utilized in order to pull ahead of the opposing team.
Both of these modes have been inspired by competitions already existing within the professional realm of FSL. So, the hope is that this will not only allow casual competitors to now enjoy the fun, but perhaps even inspire new players to join the League.
The new multiplayer modes for Farming Simulator 22 are available as a free update by downloading patch 1.10.
