Remedy Entertainment has released its quarterly business review which provides some updates on the development of previously announced Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes, Control 2, as well as games known as Codename Condor and Codename Kestrel.
Max Payne has arguably been overdue a remake since Max Payne 1 released in 2001 and Max Payne 2 in 2003. As for Control, it has received multiple awards since it launched in 2019, so it’s unsurprising that a sequel is in the works.
An insight into the development schedule
First up is Codename Condor, “a part of the Control franchise, moved to full production, meaning it has reached the final development stage before a game is launched.” Although the team has held back from handing out specific details, they say that the “core loop is engaging, and the game brings a unique Remedy angle to the genre.”
As for, Control 2, it’s currently at “finalizing the proof-of-concept stage, in which the game world, game mechanics and visual targets are proven.” The game is expected “to advance to the production readiness stage during the second quarter of 2024.”
The same can be said for the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake which is also in the “production readiness stage.” The game is expected to move into full production during the second quarter of 2024.
Codename Kestrel, a co-op multiplayer game is another entry that’s in the works over at Remedy and it remains in the concept stage.
Whether you’re looking forward to the Max Payne remakes or you want to hop into the next instalment of the Control series, we’re still a long way from getting any release dates or gameplay reveals.
